Action Orientation
I have been reading through the filmmaking book that has arrived. It's slightly outdated, given that it talks about a camcorder, but still contains relevant information. I am currently working to confirm film dates at the Baltimore Museum of Industry and will be sewing all weekend on the Gilded Haze dress. I also need to find my Indonesian textiles for the exhibition.
My next step is to start researching my heritage sewing machines, beginning with the Featherweight and then the treadle. I am still deciding on the areas of focus for the film production in the museum's garment loft, but I want to film three shows: (1) Heritage Sewing Machines, (2) Vintage Garments & Fine Dressmaking, and (3) Indonesian Textiles & the Kebaya.
I will be setting up a very small industry education exhibition room on the Baltimore Innovation Floor, in the Needle Trades district. I am still easing my way back into what my relationship with that work will look like, but I would love to help map Fashion Innovation Hub districts by city and connect those communities so they can grow. How are you coming along with your dreams? Can you ignite some excitement with action?
